Holiday Special : The Subway

Due to the crummy weather and upcoming holidays, this week is going to be a little different. In leu of our normal scheduled content NYC GRID will be featuring several "special" posts that I've collected from my photo library. I hope you enjoy the brief respite and I look forward to resuming normal posts next Monday.

A few years ago while I was still a Sophomore at School of Visual Arts I spent an entire night roaming the Subway with my old Pentax K1000. It was partially to complete some photos for a project, but also as someone who's fascinated by the sprawling system, it was a chance to really document some of my favorite elements. That evening was limited to Manhattan, so for that I apologize; I know there are many many interesting stations throughout the other boroughs, I simply didn't make it to them that night. There are countless sites online which fulfill the daunting task of documenting the Subway and it's history far more effectively than this small blog ever could, but I had to at least try to throw my hat in the ring.

So, enjoy this grainy look back at the Subway circa 2004.
