Pearl St Between Maiden Ln and Wall St

If you're on this street you're either going to work, or are hopelessly lost. This stretch is by no means a "destination"- the lack of subway, bus, and arguably car access make that very clear. If you're the claustrophobic type this may not be the place for you. It's not that the street is incredibly narrow, it's that all the surrounding buildings are incredibly tall and daunting. As I was taking photos I found myself taking more vertical shots that normal. The condensed feeling here just lends itself to the format. Sunlight barely trickles through the spaces between office buildings. The brightest spot is way down the block past Wall St. Like other blocks in the Financial District on a Saturday, this place was dead when I visited. 

With all that being said, I found the street to be incredibly enjoyable to walk down. It has a true feeling of old New York.  Sure, there's a big Chipotle on the corner of Maiden Ln, but that's easy enough to ignore. I could easily see Berenice Abbott documenting these narrow streets and tall buildings in the 1930's (not that I'm, IN ANYWAY, comparing my shoddy work to hers).
