64th St Between York Ave and 1st Ave

If you follow me on Twitter, then you may know that this is the mysterious Shrimp Toast Block.  For reasons that are inexplicable to me, every few days the corner of 64th St and York Ave smells just like chinese food – specifically shrimp toast. Encountering different oders in the city is nothing unusual, especially when they're food-related. The real problem here is that there isn't a restaurant of any sort for at least a block.  It's always isolated to this one corner, so it's not a drifting aroma. I'll continue to look into this and report back.

The block itself is quite nice.  Lined with a variety of apartments, there's a lot of little nooks and crannies to admire. York Avenue is very quiet with only the Rockafeller University campus...Though towards the 1st Avenue side, you start to come across a few local businesses and eventually things open up to the busy thoroughfare.
