Morton St Between Washington St and Hudson St
Taking you from from a rather industrial area to a more neighborhood-oriented one, these blocks have a little bit of a split personality. Containing a mixture of both new and old buildings, you'll find everything from small shops, to schools, to government-run offices, to abandoned storefronts. Despite all this, it still felt like a rather empty street - like you could miss it if you weren't paying attention.
Towards Hudson Street, you start to see signs of life as you pass by Hudson Urban Bicycles - an amazing-looking shop that seems right out of the 1940s. I imagine they do plenty of business. This part of town seems perfect to explore on two wheels...or two feet. Just as long as you're not in a car - this neighborhood deserves better.

Hi Paul,
I just love your NY-pics. And especially in this series the one about the bike-rental ;-)
Being from Holland, bike-riding is just sort of first nature of course. I was pleased to see a lot more bike-riders in NY when I visited last year.
In Holland, it's very much autumn now: cold, lots of leaves and rain. But thanks to your pics, I visit NY every day and make a mental note of the places I need to visit next time!
