Vestry St Between Hudson St and Greenwich St

Heading down a quiet street in Tribeca like this gives me an eerie feeling – like New York has transformed into a ghost town from the old west.  If it weren't for the roar of the West Side Highway just a few blocks down, there would be a feeling of complete isolation.

The nice thing about this stretch of street is that is seems relatively untouched by development.  Sure, there's a big newish building on the southern side of the block, but unlike many new buildings it's architecture fits right in with the surroundings.

I do find it a bit strange how these street still have cobblestones, yet when you get to the intersections they abruptly change to pavement – I mean, I understand WHY...but it's such a forced anachronism.
