39th St Between Lexington Ave and Park Ave

In midtown, you'd be hard-pressed to find a block lacking either of these things:  A hotel, or a place to get sushi. Of course, this block is no exception. W New York - The Tuscany makes it's presence more than known on the south side of the block. Close to Lex is Shaburi Japanese, which looked shut down to me, but maybe that's just their Saturday afternoon deal.

While there is certainly a mixture of old and new here, the old stuff is pretty great, so the benefits easily outweigh the overwhelming office buildings closer to Park. A lot of the old details on the buildings are easy to miss if you're not looking skyward.

With the location, car and pedestrian traffic can be pretty heavy, though it certainly lightens up on weekends as midtown looses it's commuters.
