Columbus Ave Between 77th St and 81st St

Running alongside the American Museum of Natural History this tree-filled block is home to plenty of commerce and a surprising number of Muni Meter signs.

On the eastern side of the street is the Theodore Roosevelt Park, which is where the museum lives. The proximity of the park and museum create for a very nice walk, with plenty of shade and a handful of stores to duck into. Despite it's closed-off appearance, the park is open to the public, so long as dogs stay off the grass.

If you walk around and down 81st street, you see the Hayden Planetarium, which is part of the museum.
