58th St Between 6th Ave and 7th Ave
Whereas on Monday I hypothesized that anyone with money would probably steer clear of Central Park South; today's block seemed more like where the money goes to hide. With a good mixture of retail and residential, the buildings range from the extremely ornate, to the incredibly plain.
On top of several restaurants and bars, this block is also home to the back door to Steinway & Sons' Steinway Hall, which has a more prominent front on 57th St. The beginning of the block, on 6th Ave, has the Trump Parc, whose ground floor is filled with antiques. The end of the block is home to the "encrusted" (as nyc-architecture.com puts it) Alwayn Court apartments. There's not one inch of the building that is free from decoration.
