89th St Between York Ave and East End Ave

It's interesting to compare the same street on opposite sides of the island. Yesterday's post covered 89th St on the far west side, today we'll do the same, but on the east. In stark contrast to the strictly residential nature of the west side, this block has a greater feeling of community. There's a better mix of apartment types, with some great stores on the York Avenue side of things.

The end of the street terminates with Carl Schurz Park, which has a clearly visible grassy patch greeting you as you walk onto East End Avenue. I personally find this preferable to the Riverside Park on the west side.

Just wanted to post a quick comment to tell you how much I am enjoying your blog. I like the idea of a block-by-block examination of this City I love so much. It is the details and variations that you notice, photo and comment on that is precisely what draws me and connects me to this City. Thanks you very much and I look forward to many more posts.
