85th St Between Broadway and West End Ave

The ornate and (presumably) expensive homes on this short block are almost all plastered with signs for "Service Entrances" or other such doors. I'm always amused by these segregated ways of entering the building. I understand that it's not always pleasant to see a worker coming in through the main lobby, but the extent to which a building will go to mask it's inner workings reminds me a lot of a theater. Like one big show, they wouldn't want to reveal how it all gets done, but rather, use the stage door to usher in and out the various craftsmen.

The street itself is started with a small corner shop and a laundry, while the rest it almost exclusively residential. Some of the architecture on these buildings is truly impressive.
