York Ave Between 82nd St and 84th St

With lots of local stores lining these blocks there's a certain, classic neighborhood feeling up around here. Sure there's the new, towering condo developments which cast a bit of a shadow on the surrounding buildings; but it's really refreshing to see so many hardware stores, restaurants and book shops thriving in a part of town like this. The only hint of big-business that I could find (and recall) was a new-ish 7-11 on the corner of 84th.

York Avenue is a nice, wide street so there's a lot of breathing room. A lot of the older buildings range from the ornate to the dilapidated. The building on the corner of 82nd Street looks very similar to another one 8 blocks to the south, which I posted back in May. Also, from the top of the hill at 84th, you can catch a glimpse of the Manhattan Center For Science and Mathematics, which we last saw in April.

A "Nails & Pleasure" shop. Hmmmm...that sounds a bit suspect.
