64th St Between Madison Ave and 5th Ave

A dead-end that leads up to 5th Avenue and the main building at the Central Park zoo, this is a quiet, dignified street with a series of embellished buildings. The high end shops on Madison Avenue are left behind as you enter the shady street, which has a surprising combination of restaurants, Consulates, and galleries.

This felt like one of this places where I was going to be erroneously told to stop taking pictures by some overzealous building manager – I just was uptight like that – but I got away scott-free. If you need to get away from the bustle of Madison Avenue, you could do worse than this block.
