48th St Between 6th Ave and 7th Ave

Venturing dangerously close to Times Square (which I imagine I'll have to visit for this blog one day, but I'm not looking forward to it), this block rewarded me with an endless collection of music stores (the block is known as Music Row). Sam Ash dominates the block with several storefronts on either side of the street. Smaller outlets like Rudy's and Manny's flank it to the east and west. If you're musically inclined then this is a must-visit. One can easily spend hours here just playing with all the toys.
There's some well-needed "competing" parking garages across from each other here towards the middle of the block. A little further east is the Cort Theatre, which has all the feeling of a classic Court House, but with a marquee. Towards sixth avenue you'll begin to encounter some typical mid-town office buildings, one of which houses News Corp and Fox News. Depending on the time of day, you can find an endless lineup of street vendors here selling every imaginable food. There appears to be a Wendy's in the 47-50 Sts Rockefeller Center station entrance on this corner, but it was closed.
